"Miscommunication is rampant between cultures. And it causes a lot of difficulties; it may even cause wars. It can cause murders, it can cause sexual assaults, it can cause a lot of different terrible things. And so, it is very important to understand that miscommunication is always a big possibility"

The story of this Japanese child who always maintains humility and where he did not like to be on the student wall of the week seems funny but everything has to do with your culture.
Really all this that has been taught to us prepares us personally to open our minds according to all our students are different and we must learn from them and not misinterpret.
I would like to prepare a lesson plan based on this cultural difference so that they can learn more, where students can experience that curiosity of knowing some places and traditions. The most important thing is that there is always gender equity and that love also for others.
I remember when I was a little girl I always had the idea that just exists Mexico but I was learning more and more, besides all the expressions were the same that was my thought, but as one grows and learns more about all this comes to be surprised in such a way that you have a little bit of wanting to visit some places.
When I travel to France, I remember that when you tried to speak in their language they were flattered and happy but when they tried to speak English, they were even rude and just said NOOOOO NOOOO and ran away that was a sad expression for me.
If I ever meet students from different places, I would like to hold a meeting with parents to explain this topic so that in the future there will not be any problems.

Hi Magda,
ResponderEliminarI was impressed to know how a miscommunication could cause serious problems in our world. I learned that we should be very thoughful when we will communication with people from other cultures. Thank you for sharing your experience.
I love your idea of teaching a lesson about cultural differences. I believe it can help our students become more tolerant and respect others who are different from them. At the same time, it would help them recognize those differences and not misinterpret others.
ResponderEliminarYou have such a caring approach. You are right, we often live in our "own world" and it can be hard to see beyond our own experiences.
